Origin and the Location of the temple
Origin – Year 2468 in the Buddhist era (Year 1925 A.D.)
The temple has been originally on a block of land donated by devotees in the area named Singho Fernando and Machchi Fernando

Relic depository
Year of construction 1995 A.D.
This is a medium size bell shaped pagoda with Buddha Relics enshrined. There are two altars on either side.
Bo tree
The sapling of the Bo-tree the seed at while belongs as Ananda Bodhiya in India. It was planted under the patronage of the female devotee Mrs.H.S.Fernando in 1964.
The terrace round the Bo-tree was renovated completely in 2001.A gold plated fence has been constructed around the Bo-tree.
There are 27 small houses for the statues of 27 Buddhas. In the fore front there is a large image house with a glass shutter. A serene image of the Gauthama Buddha is housed in it. The people who perform Bodhi puja and Atawisi Buddha puja regularly treat this place as sacred.
The terrace round the Bo-tree was renovated and reopened on 03.08.2001.
Shrine Room
In the absence of a separate shrine room a Buddha statue of the specified size together with the statues of Agra shrawakes,arahant Sarputra and Arahant Moggalana is housed in a separate sanctum which is attached to the terrace around the Bo-tree.This place is presently being used as the main shrine room and all religious rites are performed at this sanctum which is part of the old shrine room. A new shrine room is being constructed at present.
Devalaya
Devalaya which is by the side of the Bo-tree is comprised of four cubicles for :-
- Pattini Devalaya
- Vibhishana Devalaya
- Kataragama Devalaya
- Vishnu Devala
Devalaya was inaugurated in 1995 for the performance of religious rites.
Buddha statue at the main entrance of the temple
This is a large statue constructed according to the rock tradition. This statue which is worshipped by the passers by was opened on Vesak full moon poya day in the year 2547in the Buddhist era 15-05-2003 A.D.
